By 1997 Harmony Kingdom's popularity was booming, yet one area was conspicuously absent - independent clubs formed by collectors themselves. Harmony Northwest, based out of Portland, Oregon, became the first independent club midyear 1997. Soon others began to spring up throughout the U.S. and U.K., and as of October 1999 there were twenty five authorised independent clubs.
