This edition of 250 features a Burmese python, the beautifully patterned snake at the centre of controversy in Florida, where they’ve been released into the Everglades and have become an invasive species. Bills S373 and HR2811 propose to add the python to the list of injurious animals, alarming many people in the pet trade. The largest Burmese python in the US was thought to be “Baby”, who lived at the Serpent Safari Park, Gurnee, Illinois. She weighed 403 pounds and was 27 feet long. Two bits of trivia: all the largest snakes are females, and snakes have almost 400 sets of ribs. Within this box figurine is a nervous alligator (you can tell he’s nervous by the bubbles). Yes, pythons in the Everglades have even attacked alligators! |
