There aren’t many sights more romantic and colourful in the animal kingdom than a pair of lovebirds snuggled up to each other. Hence, Peter chose this subject for his 2009 Romance Annual, entitled “Hearts A Flutter”. The inscription on the base refers to the nine species of lovebirds, all from Africa and Madagascar. Peter carved the “agarpornis roseicollis” variety, thus the carving on the lid. The number thirteen commemorates Peter and his wife Andrea’s recent celebration of their 13th wedding anniversary. Along with their two children – Sam and Millie – they are a family of four, hence the four interior hearts.
