You may remember “Wicker and Whiskers”, released autumn 2009. It scored a ten on the cute-ometer. As Peter carved that model, he knew it wasn’t quite him and would try again, this time with crazy looking cats. A year later, he brings us “Wicker and Whiskers Redux”, a House of Lords and Queen Empress Exclusive, with a mere edition of 150. Inscribed around the lid is “cat gurning championships”. Gurning is a rural English tradition where people compete to pull [make] the weirdest faces. The World Championships are held annually at the Egremont Crab Fair in Cumbria, dating back to 1267. This box figurine also commemorates Andrea, Peter’s wife, breaking her arm. RAM 23/7/10 is an anagram for “arm” with the fateful day of July 23. Open the lid, and a cat and mouse will peek back at you. |
